Simply Saturday...

My First Daybook….

Outside my window...

It looks and feels like Spring! The trees are budding, the birds are singing and I am loving each and every moment. Usually we get about ten feet of snow each year, so this is a very off, but welcomed change!

I am thinking about...

Spring coming soon and planting my gardens. I am glancing through a few gardening catalogs that arrived this week looking for many seeds to plant soon :D

I am hearing…

The beautiful sounds of birds chirping early in the morning as I eat my breakfast. I cannot get enough of the early sounds of spring.

I am giving thanks for...

that only two of my three sons woke up sick last night and that they seem to be on the mend now. We were not so lucky this time last year as all of my men were sick for an entire week!

In the kitchen...

I am making sweet and tangy slow cooker Asian drumsticks for dinner with roasted vegetables. YUM! Love roasted vegetables!

I am creating...

Lesson plans for school next week and have a few ideas for a new knitting project.

I am going...

to my son’s basketball game today. I love these games so much and look forward to Saturday mornings each week because of them!

I am praying for...

peace and well-being for my family and friends and for a few friends who are pregnant (one due any time now and one who is halfway through her pregnancy) that can use a few extra prayers. I am also praying the Serenity Prayer more and more these days. It is one of my favorites and is simple and to the point!

I am reading...

Consoling the Heart Jesus and truly enjoying it. I decided to make a retreat this year for Lent and this is a very inspiring read! It is just what I need right now.

I am hoping...

that my oldest son wins his basketball game today. He is such a sweet little man and this is his first year playing and he is pretty good. His team is 0-7 and although he is all right with that, I would love for them to win one!

I am looking forward to...

next Wednesday. It is a big day here. Not only is it Ash Wednesday, but, my littlest man turns FIVE! There is a party in the making and we are all so excited about it.

I am learning…

More and more each day about the subtle lessons that God provides for us. This past year was filled with them and I was able to see a good deal of them and am trying to tune in more and more to His calling and will for our family. I am learning to trust in Him and to stop trying to reinvent the wheel!

Around the house...

It is pretty calm here today. We are resting and even the Border Collie is quiet. If you know Border Collies, then you know that is VERY unusual! Most days are pretty loud and busy here, so when it is quiet it is usually due to illness and that quiet is not a welcomed break!

A favorite quote for today...

Let Go...Let God. I need to work on this one more ;)

One of my favorite things...

Listening to my oldest son play piano. He is getting quite good and I just love sitting with a steamy cup of peppermint tea in my favorite chair while he practices.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

We try to take it easy when the weekend comes. The only plans we have are to go to church and relax and enjoy Family Movie Night. We are going to watch Toy Story (not sure which one as we love all three) and have some popcorn. We had an especially busy weekend last week so this will be a much welcomed rest that we all need to recharge a bit.

My point of view...

Love this little snow bird and how the red pops on the white. So pretty!

  1. a cardinal on a snowy tree branch is just about the prettiest thing that God ever made!! I'm reading Consoling the Heart of Jesus too, and it will take me through Lent.
