I have decided to alternate our language arts lessons between using Lesson Pathways (which is phenomenal and I cannot say enough good things about) and Five In a Row which is equally as good but a bit easier to use for both boys.
A few weeks ago we began our first book for FIAR, The Story About Ping by Marjorie Flack. We all really enjoyed reading about Ping's adventures on the Yangtze River in China. This was a great week and we had so much fun!
We learned all about different types of ducks and their classification.
We talked about how a duck begins it's life as an embryo and how it becomes a duckling.
The boys loved the science experiment we did about which items would sink or float.
We discovered what makes a duck a duck and what similarities and differences there are between ducks and geese.
When we were done with our work we went to a pond nearby and watched ducks for a while and then went to a cornfield nearby to see all of the geese that are heading south (lucky geese!). We really had fun just sitting and discussing what we had learned while checking them all out!
You've done some really cute things with Ping. (this was one of my favorites when my girls were little)
